The beginning of November witnessed Saudi Arabia’s first EV, Auto Show, with Electromin as the title sponsor. The event took place from the 1st to 3rd of November in Riyadh at AlFaisaliyah hotel and was open for all. The auto show provided a platform for the general public to meet several industry leaders and enterprises who had united to showcase the latest electric vehicles, technology and services, all with one main goal – Electrifying the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Apart from Electromin, the exhibiting companies included companies like Lucid, Nissan, Volvo, Quantron, Al Zahid Group, and Sixt, among others. The industry leaders held several panel discussions and educational addresses with the audience to raise awareness and bust myths about the concept of e-mobility.
The EV Sector in KSA
Today, the private sector is actively addressing Saudi Arabia’s target of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2060 through a “circular carbon economy approach”. This is compatible with the Kingdom’s plans for development and diversification, and a widespread switch to electric vehicles will enable the national acceleration to reach these goals.
Simply put, EVs are powered through a battery source that requires recharging and have the ability to cover a great distance in a single charge. They offer an ecological option with lesser exhaustion of harmful emissions that will eventually improve air quality worldwide.
Moreover, instead of fuel consumption, EVs show a substantially higher dependence on batteries capable of charging from a mountable unit, at a fraction of the cost. Therefore, cost-saving in the long run becomes another of the many benefits of switching to electric vehicles.
Electric vehicles charging the world
According to a BloombergNEF study, there are almost 20 million passenger electric vehicles on the road today with electrification spread to other segments of road transportation. There are also more than 280 million electric mopeds, scooters, motorcycles, and three-wheelers across the globe with over 1.3 million commercial electric vehicles- buses, delivery vans, and trucks.
EV Auto Show Riyadh exhibited future-ready solutions and products, offered by several organizations that are changing the face of e-mobility in the country. One of the leading companies disrupting this ecosystem is Electromin, the e-mobility arm of Petromin. Electromin offers bespoke and future-proof solutions across private residences, workplaces, and public spaces, to enable the e-mobility evolution at every touchpoint.
